Growing number of Peruvian restaurants in UK.
Reflects upsurge in recognition & popularity of Peru’s gastronomy.
We provide a map of all Peruvian restaurants we know about.
Why not try them all … and tell us how they were?!
As the fame of Peru's exquisite cuisine expands, so does the number of restaurants serving it in the UK.
London - not surprisingly - is home to the lion’s share of Peruvian restaurants. But you can now find one in Birmingham and Newcastle … and we are sure the list will continue to evolve.
Moreover, there are Latin American restaurants in most urban centres - the Las Iguanas chain being probably the best-known example - that have at least one Peruvian dish on their menu. However, we have not included these on our map (below).
It is still tricky to find some of the key ingredients of Peruvian cuisine in the UK, such as aji amarillo chilli, the specific limes used to marinate ceviche, and the superb seafood to be found along Peru’s Pacific coast.
As a result, the menus tend to be in the mid to upper price range: you can expect to pay at least £50 per person for a 3-course a la carte meal, with a glass of wine.
If you are tempted to try one of the delicious Peruvian cocktails, such as a Pisco Sour, you won’t get much - if any - change from a tenner.
If you are on a budget, we recommend the lunchtime set menus, which often include a range of dishes to try.
As anyone who has seen Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares can tell you, the catering business is notoriously difficult, especially in the wake of Covid, with restaurants opening, moving and closing all the time. So, please let us know if our map is out-of-date, or there are new Peruvian restaurants that we should be aware of.
We would also love to hear your experiences at the various restaurants listed. We certainly haven’t eaten at all of them - although it is on our to-do list! - so we welcome your feedback.
