Originally built on the Clyde in Scotland in 1899, the Rio Amazonas has been restored back to her Victorian charm, as part of the Museum of Historic Boats, to be a wonderful combination of historic atmosphere and comfortable facilities. 

All of her 14 cabins have river-view windows and are fitted with air-conditioning, a desk, wardrobe and private bathrooms with hot showers.

The public areas include a dining hall used for meals, lectures and films, an upper-deck bar and a comfortable library, with a selection of classic books on Amazonia and its history.
 
Beginning and ending in Iquitos, the bustling heart of the Peruvian Amazon, this five-day river cruise will give you a unique Amazon experience that combines relaxed travel on historic boats, wildlife and wilderness experience in rain forests and rivers, and indigenous Amazon village visits where local cultures live intertwined with the rainforest.

Boarding the Rio Amazonas in the town of Nauta, situated near the confluence of the Amazon River, the focus of the exploration will be two full days around the confluence of the Samiria River in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, a great place to experience the scenery, waterways, forest wildlife and people in the company of professional naturalist guides. 

A variety of excursions will be done each day and you can join all of them, or pick and choose as you like:

• Morning and evening bird-watching, enjoying magnificent sunrises and sunsets

• Treks through the rain forest in search of monkeys and other wildlife

• Fishing excursions along streams, channels and oxbow lakes

• Observing the majestic pink and grey river dolphins

• Searching for caimans and fishing bats under starlit nights

• Visiting a local Cocama indigenous community involved with rainforest conservation work.

Once back on board the Rio Amazonas, take your tea with cake as the Amazon forests slip past; or sip your Pisco sour at the Bar, before enjoying a buffet meal of international and Peruvian cuisine in the large dining room.

All prices quoted are per person sharing a cabin on a double occupancy basis. There is a minimum number of 9 passengers required for a departure. The maximum occupancy of the vessel is 24 passengers.
