Overview
The 31-passenger Amazon Star, is indeed a shining star in the Peruvian Amazon cruise fleet. With some 40 years' experience in Amazon River cruises, her owners were one of the pioneers of tourism in the region, and in 2013 took all their accumulated knowledge to create this beautiful riverboat.
It has the modern facilities you would expect from a new boat, including private balconies, en-suite facilities and lecture and fitness rooms. It also features interconnectable cabins and suites, ideal for families.
For the more active, there are kayaks on board that can be used for serene, Amazon paddling.
Despite these modern facilities, it still retains its expedition charm, having been classically designed and built using locally-sourced, sustainable woods, and furnished to a high standard.
Her epic eight-day Amazon River tour begins and ends in the port of Iquitos, and covers some 1,000 km / 600 miles on the Amazon and its tributaries. This enables guests to travel into the protected Pacaya-Samiria Reserve, and giving unrivaled access to the Peruvian rain forest’s most pristine areas.
Remote access, in the company of some of the river’s most knowledgeable guides, gives passengers the best chance of spotting rare wildlife that would otherwise not be seen.
For those on a tighter schedule, there are four and five day versions of the itinerary, which begin or end in Nauta, with land transport provided from/to Iquitos airport or city.
